2022 was a year with many very different things.
It started with the Nederlands Kamerkoor. Honorary conductor of this choir, Paul Van Nevel was asked to present some Do(ut)-re-mi-fa-sol-la related compositions of renaissance music for a recording of a video sequal on this theme. (One my find them on YouTube, just Google 'Doremifasol Nederland Kamerkoor' and you'll find all 5 episodes, with english subtitles)
In March ABO&C performed Schütz. Historia der Auferstehung Jesu Christi, SWV 50 Die Sieben Worte Jesu Christi am Kreuz, SWV 478 Historia der Geburt Jesu Christi, SWV 435 It is no secret that I am not particulary fond of this composer but to sing this project with my dear and fantastic alto colleagues in the ABC was again a great pleasure. |
On the 27th of March I had the honour to conduct JS Bach's St. Matthews Passion in Brielle. Within the margins of the possible I deliberately ignored some of its generally accepted conventions. But apparently the piece is too 'sacro sanct' and considered 'intouchable' in Holland; in any case it was far too revolutionary for Brielle. Too bad, I was having a great time with some lovely soloists like my friend Kieran White (tenor) and the amazing Luciana Mancini (alto).
In June we had our annual ABO&C 'party' in Leipzig. This year with a camera crew present, for the making of the Ton Koopman portrait movie by Paul Hegeman, entitled 'Ik wil graag honderd worden' (I like to get 100 years old).

In august I had a wonderful groupe of amateur singers in my summer course, singing a Bach/Mendelssohn program
